In the last four years, during the week after Ironman 70.3 Mallorca, I would be recovering my tired legs and enjoying the good memories from a great race in an amazing location. This year is different, I came back from Mallorca with fresh legs, empty hands and an extreme frustration of not being able to start the race. Friday, the day before the race, on the way to the bike check-in with my wife and the kids, we stopped at a restaurant to have lunch. Suddenly, a strong wind blew up and detached a big umbrella next to our table from its base. My wife courageously put her hand to avoid that the umbrella hits our kids. Luckily they were safe but she had a broken finger. She had to have an operation the same day to fix it. Obviously I am very disappointed but this accident could have been a lot worse.
